How much does it cost to build a custom home in Tasmania?+
Forever Home costs vary depending on size, complexity, site conditions, finish level, and performance requirements. Most projects range between $850,000 and $4 million. We provide a Qualifying Budget Estimate (QBE) early in the process so clients can assess alignment between scope and budget before proceeding further.
How long does it take to design and build a custom home?+
Most Forever Homes take between 18 and 30 months from engagement through to handover. Typically 6 to 12 months for design, documentation, and approvals, and 12 to 18 months for construction. Timing depends on project complexity, approvals, detailing, and site conditions.
Can I make changes during the build?+
Changes are possible, but they can impact cost, sequencing, and timelines. Any variation is documented, priced, and approved through Wunderbuild before work proceeds, ensuring clarity throughout construction.
Do I need plans before speaking to a builder?+
No. Early involvement allows us to contribute to buildability, budgeting, and construction strategy before plans are finalised. If plans already exist, we can review them and provide early pricing guidance through a Qualifying Budget Estimate.
What's the difference between a Fixed Price and Cost-Plus contract?+
A Fixed Price contract provides upfront cost certainty where the scope is well resolved. A Cost-Plus contract provides full open-book visibility and flexibility for more complex or evolving projects. We explain both structures in detail during the Contract Education Session before any agreement is signed.
What is open-book pricing?+
Open-book pricing means every labour, material, subcontractor, allowance, and margin cost is clearly documented and visible to the client. It provides transparency and informed decision-making throughout the project.

Do you build Passivhaus or high-performance homes?+
Yes. Many of our projects incorporate Passivhaus principles and high-performance building fundamentals including airtightness, controlled ventilation, thermal continuity, and efficient building envelopes. These principles are integrated into every Forever Home regardless of certification.
