How we measure
3D Model Estimating
We don't measure your materials off a flat plan. We build your home in 3D — and count every quantity from it.
Most builders estimate materials the same way they did fifty years ago: a person scaling quantities off two-dimensional plans, filling the gaps with industry-average allowances. It's where missed items — and budget blowouts — are born.
We replaced it. Every home we estimate is built as a full 3D model, and the material quantities are read straight from it — every sheet, stick, beam, brick and square metre, layer by layer. Those quantities are then priced againstZanetto Builders' own supplier price book for your region of Tasmania. Not last year's rates. Not mainland rates. Your materials, your region, today.
See it, don't take our word for it
Watch: your home, modelled
A real model takeoff by our independent estimating partner, Vision 2 Estimating (V2E). Each building layer is isolated and counted — the quantities behind your estimate, made visible.
Counted, not guessed
Every layer, measured separately
A home isn't one number — it's dozens of building systems stacked together. The model isolates and quantifies each one, so nothing is rolled into a vague allowance:
Watch it build
Every stage, in the model first
Slabs, structure, wraps and frames — the whole home built up stage by stage in the model, so every material is counted before it's ever ordered. Modelled by our independent partner, Vision 2 Estimating (V2E).
3D model estimating is the materials engine insideThe Perfect Estimate — our contract-grade system that also prices labour from $20M+ of back-costed homes and quotes every subcontract trade twice, before presenting the lot as anopen-book negotiated tender.
Want a number before you're that far along? The48-Hour Estimate gives you a 90-category figure within 10% of your real build cost, in two days.
Frequently asked questions
3D model estimating — your questions answered
What is 3D model estimating?+
Instead of measuring material quantities off flat 2D plans, we build a full 3D model of your home and read the exact quantities straight from it — every sheet, stick, beam, brick and square metre, layer by layer. Those quantities are then priced against our own supplier price book for your region of Tasmania.
Why is it more accurate than a normal takeoff?+
A 2D takeoff relies on a person interpreting drawings and applying industry-average allowances — which is where missed items and budget surprises come from. A model counts what is actually there. Two homes of the same floor area can carry very different material costs; the model sees the difference a per-square-metre rate never will.
Who builds the model?+
Our independent estimating partner, Vision 2 Estimating (V2E) — specialists whose entire job is model-based takeoff accuracy. Because they are independent, the quantities behind your estimate are not even our own claim.
How does this fit with the rest of your pricing?+
It is the materials engine inside The Perfect Estimate. Labour is priced from $20M+ of back-costed homes, materials from this 3D model and our regional price book, and every subcontract trade is quoted twice — then the whole thing goes to you as an open-book negotiated tender.
